Since 2008, Alexander Marion has been acting vice president for nuclear operations, a position that in recent years was staffed by loaned executives from NEI member companies. He will be responsible for leading NEI programs in nuclear facility operations support, engineering, emergency preparedness, security, health physics and low-level radioactive waste management.
 
Previously at NEI, Marion served as executive director of nuclear operations. In that position, he was responsible for overall management of NEI and industry working groups involved in power plant operations and many of the same issues he will manage as vice president of nuclear operations.

Marion joined NEI in 1994 and has held previous management positions with responsibility for engineering, licensing and programs. Prior to the formation of NEI, Marion was manager of the technical division at the Nuclear Utility Management and Resources Council from 1988 to 1994. He held various positions for 15 years at Baltimore Gas and Electric Co., now Constellation Energy.

Marion is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Board on Nuclear Codes & Standards, Operations & Maintenance Committee, and Special Committee on Standards Planning and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers Nuclear Power Engineering Committee.
