Washington, D.C.— The final version of the budget reconciliation bill, now passed by both chambers of Congress, goes to the President for signature. The following statement can be attributed to Maria Korsnick, president and chief executive officer of the Nuclear Energy Institute:
“The final budget reconciliation package, now passed by the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, is a clear signal that nuclear is essential to a reliable, affordable and increasingly clean energy system.
“By maintaining the nuclear power production tax credit for existing generation, we will continue to see life extensions and power uprates with our existing fleet to meet growing demand. The tax credits for new nuclear generation give the private sector confidence to invest in not only nuclear's present but future as we progress rapidly to deploy the next generation of reactors.”
